A Sparkling Reflection of an Ocean Gem
Kenneth Cobonpue is a creative that continuously shapes his design identity through making pieces that mirrors his vision of communing with nature. This time, he brings his idea to life by designing the Barnacle mirror collection that reflects hidden treasures of the sea.
Kenneth grew up in the small island of Cebu where breathtaking mountains and clear oceans have nurtured his mind with ideas rooted in natural landscapes that surrounded him. “Cebu’s seas, mountains and people are sources of inspiration to me,” says Kenneth.
The Barnacle mirror is a piece that exhibits how he sees the world with his designs made up of the elements—nature, craft and culture. Rough-textured shells, in large random clusters and anchored tightly to rocks, mimic nature's wonder. Barnacles endure the rough cuts of waves crashing against the rocky shores. Each shell, shaped by its resilience, and molded overtime. This natural symbiosis of nature brings out the beauty of these ocean gems. Capturing the shell’s spontaneous and enchanting formation, every barnacle is sculpted and crafted with Fiber Reinforced Polymers. These beautiful molds are then attached together, organically shaping the frame of the mirror.
An array of intricate clusters forming distinctive patterns in three sizes which can be styled as a group. Its irregular-shaped frame, anchored with four D-hooks provide varied configurations for hanging, allowing you to hang these fiberglass-molded shells however these suite your space—as a set of three, as a pair, or as a single accent.
The Barnacle mirror collection is a harmonious display of marine life wonders and formations that exudes the beauty of the sea.
